As a mechanic at Orion Waste Partners, you will play a vital role in helping to keep our cities clean and sustainable. Orion provides comprehensive technical solutions for the most complex heavy-duty fleets in the recycling and waste industry. You will be responsible for maintaining the sophisticated machinery that keeps urban environments running, from automated refuse collection of vehicles to advanced recycling equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems and is up to the challenge of complex hydraulics, electronics, and heavy-duty mechanics in a professional, modern, laboratory-style workshop. We make sure you master complex technical systems and kickstart your career in the environmental services industry
You will be responsible for fixing and checking heavy recycling equipment. You will:
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex hydraulic and mechanical systems
Maintain and repair electric drive systems and high-voltage components
Perform quality checks on specialized cleaning and waste disposal units
Take photos of technical issues and write short reports for the system
Ensure all safety sensors, camera systems, and digital displays work correctly
Carry out periodic inspections to prevent downtime of the fleet
You will work from Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 17:00. There is a possibility of working in the evening shift, which gives you a 30% shift allowance.
You are a technical person who likes fixing things. You have:
A NEN 9140 certificate or the willingness to obtain it within 2 months
Experience with heavy equipment, trucks, or commercial vehicles
Good communication skills in English or Dutch
Ability to work with both mechanical parts and digital diagnostic tools
A category B driving license to travel to your workplace
